With this mixture of both old-school and nu-school approaches he creates a sound that feels classic yet very much modern. References abound, perhaps the most obvious being the laid-back yet confident flow of Biggie Smalls, whose ability to effortlessly combine the tragic and comic together is reflected in his flawlessly executed verses. Going further into the mix A Tribe Called Quest’s lush, almost orchestral flavor and smoky noir ethos further adds to the impressive array. However, despite all of these influences Sam R I builds upon hip-hop’s history rather than outright copying it, for there is an intensity and razor-sharp focus that is uniquely his own.

You don't have to be an expert or any sort of aficionado to recognize right away that this is a blessed MC right here. Just know, when playing the SAM R I with a watchful ear open that you're gonna be in good hands. He swiftly manages to get his point across whether it's describing a celebration of life, or showing respect to the deceased homies. Enough to make any of the aforementioned smile down brightly and kindly from the heavens above. From humble beginnings of bravely stepping off the stones of battle rap, SAM R I has truly elevated up to a level that's all his own. He possesses a rhyme style that's ready to face off at any time, in any direction. Step up and you'll soon realize it's extremely difficult, near impossible, to ever fade the blade of this warrior. You'll know when he strikes, style and force akin to an actual samurai!

I feel like SAM R I's lyrical ability is something I haven't heard before in a rap album, it's something I never expected to hear before. I feel like he's going to be a force to be reckoned with. I'm sure this man is going to make a come up REAL fuckin soon.

I don't have a single doubt about anything that has been showed to me today, by the way the music's been put together, it's been produced excellently, and eloquently. To the subject matter of each of the songs, it's just...it's flawless. Each of these songs is like an onion, until you get to the end.

What you're in for sonically is a lot of great traditional boom bap beats from Trust One, while SAM's flow doesn't get too complicated and the content doesn't get too deep, he does bring some charisma, humor and smooth flows to help keep things together on this project. If you like what I said so far, this is a project you don't want to sleep on. Once again, I think Trust One is just killing the production on here because I did like pretty much every beat. Overall, I do recommend this if you like smooth traditional Hip-Hop.
